When we asked if they too were talked out of coming to the patio, they said yes. When their drinks came, she pretty much threw them at the gentlemen. Three young gentlemen came out back also to enjoy their beer on the patio, and she just covered her face in her hands and also took their order from about 10 feet away from them under the safety of the covered stairs. This was all in a covered area of the patio. The gentleman that had ordered food across from was, was then given his dinner slid between the slats of the railing so that she didn't have to step up the stairs and maybe get a drop of rain on her. She was about 8 feet from our table taking our order. She then took our order from the stairway where she was safe from the few drops of rain that had started. Then she proceded to wave her hand to the back door when we said we would still like to have drinks out there. It had clouded over and she was reluctant to take us out to the patio (which does have a cover). We were served by a very ignorant waitress. Give Amadeus a try I thoroughly recommend them.īy Restaurantica12 ApWe were served by a very ignorant waitress. Be warned.the large plates are very large, ideal for sharing. Outside is definitely the place to eat though, inside the decor is slightly lacking although there is a room that reminds me of a real beer keller.ĭesserts are huge and very good indeed so try to leave room for them if you can. Beer is fresh and imported from Germany in many cases. What I mean here is that many places serve you badly cellared beer in a glass that tastes of cleaning solution.not Amadeus. The schnitzels and sausages are super tasty but also the sole, chicken paprikash and rouladen and don't forget this place has some of the best kept beer in Kingston. Food is german in nature, hearty, tasty and it's clear the chef knows what he's doing. The atmosphere is genuine and non-pretentious like the food. Couple this with possibly the best patio in Kingston and fantastic value for money and you won't be dissapointed. We have been going to Amadeus for the past 15 years and have never had a bad meal there. There are restaurants you visit that sometimes have an off day. This was our first visit and will definitely not be our last - I can hardly wait to return!īy Restaurantica12 AugConsistently excellent I lived in Switzerland and traveled to both Germany and Austria and this café was quintessentially reminiscent of the restaurants I visited in these areas. The highlight of each of our meals was the schnitzel - it was tender, flavourful and mine was smothered in a succulent cream sauce. We shared the House Platter of cold meats, Emmentaler cheese, egg, and potato salad. Our server promptly took our drink orders and remained attentive for the duration of our stay. When we arrived they had a table waiting, even though it was packed inside. She cautioned us that we may have to wait - even though we had a reservation. I called Amadeus at 1pm on the 31st and, while they were fully booked, the woman on the phone was very accommodating and graciously fit us in. B.V.Our memorable experience with Amadeus began before we even stepped foot into the place when we found ourselves without dinner reservations for New Year's Eve.
