So - I think WU is actually doing what it is supposed to and is listing all available devices (from those 10 listed packages) that it has at this time. I select the HP group and scroll thru an endless list of devices - but my 1505n is never listed.
I click that - it thinks about the drivers for about a minute and then presents a very large list of drivers from a variety of manufacturers - including of course HP.
The wizard then asks me to install a new Driver (it could not find any compatible ones) I click Next and get to the Printer Installation box that lists all locally found drivers and offers the Windows Update button. I then tried switched over "Search the Network for Printers" and found the 1505n no problem. The detection seems to go on forever after that. If I put in the IP to my 1505n on the network - can click Next - I get an error dialog saying that the device cannot be found. Hmm - so far so good to this point - until the "type of device" dialog also requires a Hostname or IP. I just tested this on my own install of Windand it's all good. No errors in event log and driver was successfully imported into the Win 10 v1809 existing driver repository. Select the P1505n printer from devices listed Navigate to driver folder copied in Step 1Ĩ. If your P1505n is on the network - it will show up in the windowĦ. Choose “My printer is a little older – help me find it”Ĥ. Open the Add printer wizard and let the automated search run outģ.
If you still have Windows 10 v1709 (or maybe even 1803 - I did not test) go toĬ:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository and find this folderĢ. It seems that Microsoft has decided to remove a perfectly known good working driver and the actual only existing HP branded driver is not compatible with this specific version of Windows.ĮDIT: Seems I can actually use this driver in Windows 10 v1809!įor reference or for anyone else having issues - here is the solution:ġ. Oddly - after any print job hangs - I can open the Print queue by right clicking the Printer icon in the tray - and CANCEL the job listed - and then hit Print again - and I am able to successfully print the document.īut even tho the document prints - Windows 10 (v1809) immediately displays a notification (Bottom right of the screen) saying an error occurred printing the doc AND the second event viewer message appears in the event log again.
Win32 error code returned by the print processor: 1803. Total number of pages in the document: 1. Size of the spool file in bytes: 1339123. Try to print the document again, or restart the print spooler. The document Print Document, owned by xxxx, failed to print on printer HP LaserJet P1505n. The system cannot find the file specified Win32 error code returned by the print processor: 2. Over in Event Viewer - two specific messages are logged every time this "hang" occurs: Now - this driver can certainly be installed properly - if one jumps through a number hoops AND Windows v1809 seems to think it's working properly - but as soon as I print anything - even starting with the TEST page after installing the driver - every print job instantly hangs in the queue. The supplied HP driver (from 2013) is called ljP1000_P1500-HB-pnp-win64-en) and can be found on the HP site : Now I know what you are thinking - why not just use the driver offered on the HP site for this aged printer? Well - it seems that driver does not work properly either in Windows v1809. Matter of fact - I do not see ANY HP drivers now in the Driver Repository. Now I am installing a clean version of Windows 10 v1809 and inexplicably - the HP LaserJet P1505n Class Driver is suddenly nowhere to be found. Then in Windows 10 v1709 (which we upgraded to in Dec 2017) - the driver was located in C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository in a folder called In Windthis driver was located in C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository in a folder called: This driver was AWESOME and would allow for basic printing and was ultra rock solid with our now 12 year old printer. At that time and that version - I could add our P1505n to a new workstation install and Windows 10 would instantly install a driver called HP LaserJet P1505n Class Driver - which would look like this: We moved to Windows 10 when version 1607 was released in the summer of 2016. I have have been battling a number of odd issues with my P1505n printer - and have now discovered what I believe is the actual cause.
